What Is Rakeback?

When you play at a casino, you are always playing against the casino, commonly referred to as the "house". The casino makes money when you lose money. However when playing poker, you don't play against the poker room - you play against other players. So how does an online poker room make money?

Poker rooms make money by taking a percentage out of the "pot". This percentage is usually 5%, and is commonly referred to as "rake". For example, if you played a hand at $0.50/$1 and won a $10 pot, you would actually only win a $9.50 pot, as the poker room takes(or "rakes" in) 5% of that pot, which is $0.50. While it may not seem like a lot on an individual basis, if you play online poker often, the poker room is making a lot of money from you based on that rake. If you played poker for 20 hours a month at just 1 table of $0.50/$1 No Limit, the poker room would be taking over $1500 in rake a month from you. This amount can be the difference between a losing month and a winning month.

Enter sites like Rakeback Resource. By signing up with Rakeback Resource at an online poker room, we give a percentage of the rake back to you. We give back the maximum allowed rakeback at each individual poker room. So in that previous scenario, if you signed up at a poker room directly, you'd contribute $1500 in rake per month, and not get anything back. If you signed up at that poker room via Rakeback Resource? You'd get a percentage of that rake back. If it was at Cake Poker for example, you would get 33% of that rake back, or $495. And the only thing you did different was signing up via Rakeback Resource.

How do I get rakeback? How this works is very simple: when we refer players to a poker room, we get a percentage of all the revenue that we generate. Rather than keep all that revenue, we give back the maximum allowed amount to the player. Why do we do this? Because the rake online is very high, and it can be the difference between a winning player and a losing player. It doesn't matter if you're a casual player or a high stakes player, you should never be playing at a poker room without rakeback. So have a look at the rakeback offers we have, and get paid to play poker!
